How To Become A Foster Carer?

Many children don’t get the best start in life, but you could be the person who could change that. Have you got what it takes to become a foster carer?

Are you

  • Over 23

  • Have a spare bedroom

  • Have a secure home

  • Good communication with good written and verbal skills

  • Sharing our determination never to give up on a child.

The process of becoming a foster carer is straightforward. After you have made contact with us we will talk with you about fostering and arrange a home visit with one of our social workers. If we agree that fostering may be the right thing for you, you make an application and we will assess you.

This may take around 12 weeks. During this time we carry out checks and you attend a skills to foster preparatory training course. At the end of the assessment we present the report to our fostering panel and the final decision about your approval lies with our agency decision maker. It may seem like a lot of steps and a bit complicated but we will help you every step of the way.
